Watsonville Mural Archive

This mural at the former Mona Lisa Cafe was originally painted by Carmen Leon in 1977 and later restored in 1998 by Guillermo "Yermo" Aranda with assistance from community volunteers and funding from grants and donations. Notably, the mural depicts a man crucified which makes a reference to the famous mural "La America Tropical" by Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros in 1932. Recent efforts to restore this mural have been stalled.
